How To Make Homemade Chocolate Ice Cream?

For the first step, start with your stand or hand-held beater and whisk together the milk, cocoa powder, and sugar. Continue this until the sugar and cocoa are completely dissolved. And no lumps remain.

Next in a large mixing bowl, beat the heavy cream until it forms stiff peaks. This will take about 5.7 minutes. Using a spatula fold the whipped cream and the vanilla extract into the cocoa powder mixture. Fold gently so that no air bubbles are lost.

Transfer in a tub or a loaf pan and refrigerate this mixture for at least 30 minutes before transferring to the deep freezer. This will help cool and set it completely. Cooling it down in the fridge will help it freeze faster, improve the overall texture of the ice cream, and allow hydrate the cocoa powder completely with the milk and cream. This will in turn enhance flavour.

After 30 minutes take it out and give the ice-cream one gentle stir and freeze according to the directions of your ice-cream maker or for about 1 1/2 to 2 hours. Read on to learn how to store your homemade chocolate ice cream.

If you want you can serve the homemade chocolate ice cream straight from the ice-cream maker, this will have the texture of soft-serve ice cream (just like how we like it!). Freezing for an hour or two before serving will create a firmer texture and a denser chocolate flavour.

Expert Tips For Our Homemade Chocolate Ice Cream Recipe

Buy Good Ingredients

Buying a good quality cocoa powder is key to achieve a deep chocolatey flavour in your ice-cream. Using an already open packet of cocoa powder that has been sitting in your pantry for some time cannot give you those results. The key indicator that determines whether your cocoa powder is fresh or not is when its colour starts to fade to a lighter tone than it previously was. This is why we attach links to our ingredient lists so that you guys do not face any sort of problems in deciding what to get for the recipe. We order the same ingredients and that helps our viewers achieve the same goodness in food as we do!

Mix Away

To ensure that your ice-cream turns out smooth and silky, you have to make sure that the milk, sugar and cocoa mixture is combined well together. The key is to mix these three ingredients separately from the other ingredients so that it reaches an appropriate consistency. So try to calm down and mix the ingredients with patience as patience is the key to a lot of deliciousness!

Add What Your Heart Desires

You can add any mix-ins you want after the ice-cream has been churned in the ice-cream churner. You can get really creative and add whatever you want. Mint or some orange zest can help bring freshness to your chocolate ice cream but it actually is all up to you!

How To Store Your Homemade Chocolate Ice Cream

Ice-cream should be stored in an airtight container towards the back of the freezer. The lid should be closed tightly to avoid the formation of ice crystals in the ice-cream. Also, make sure not to store it in the freezer door as more temperature fluctuations occur because the door is frequently opened and shut.
